Dr Justin Dutton

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Justin Dutton graduated from the second oldest public high school in the nation, Central High School in 1989.  Staying in Philly, he attended Drexel University where he studied the sciences for 2.5 years.  At Drexel he met his future wife, Sabrina, who was studying Interior Decorating.  Excelling in his studies in undergrad, as well as scoring well in the Dental Aptitude Test (DAT), Justin was accepted into Temple University, School of Dentistry without even finishing his undergraduate work, a feat that is almost never accomplished by pre-dental students.  Following four years of education and clinical training he became Justin Dutton D.M.D. on May 16, 1996* at the age of 24.  He was one of the youngest students to graduate from Temple Dental School.  Later that year, in December, Dr. Dutton received his undergraduate degree in Unified Sciences from Drexel University.

 While waiting for his dental credentialing, Dr. Dutton worked in a private practice as a dental assistant, learning his trade.  In early 1997 he took his first position as a staff dentist at Southeast Lancaster Health Services, in Lancaster, PA.  There he worked in a team of 4 dentists.  After only 1.5 years as a staff dentist he was offered the position of Dental Director, which he held for another 2.5 years.  During his tenure at SELHS Dr. Dutton took up the game of golf, which lead him to desire a move to a warmer climate.

In 2001, Dr. Dutton, his wife, and their son who was then 5 years old, decided to move to Rio Rico, Arizona where Dr. Dutton took a position as staff dentist at Mariposa Community Health Center in Nogales.  While at MCHC Dr. Dutton become adjunct faculty for Lutheran Medical Center, NYC, as well as the A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, Mesa, AZ.  With these appointments he has helped train first year dental residents and third and forth year dental students.  Dr. Dutton continues to work at the health center part time, one Monday per month.

 Seeing a huge need for Orthodontic care in the Nogales Community, Dr. Dutton and the Management Team at MCHC decided to begin to offer Orthodontic care at the health center.  Dr. Dutton began his orthodontic training in 2002 at Progressive Orthodontic Seminars in Orange County, California.  Following 2 years of training and clinical work he received his Certificate in January 2004.  The need of the patients was clearly met through the health centers orthodontic program, with over 700 patients receiving orthodontic care at the center with Dr. Dutton.

 Once again excelling in his studies, as well as his clinical work, Dr. Dutton was asked to become an instructor for Progressive Ortho Seminars.  In February 2005 Dr. Dutton began his teaching career in Melbourne, Australia.  He has since gone on to teach in Houston, Atlanta and New York in the States, as well as Sydney, Australia, Bilbao, Madrid, and Barcelona, Spain and Paris, France abroad.  Currently Dr. Dutton has discontinued his teaching endeavor to focus on CopperMine Dental Studio.

Personally, Dr. Dutton enjoys his life with his beautiful wife, Sabrina, their son, Craig, and their many pets.  Dr. Dutton still enjoys golf as well as soccer.  He volunteers as a coach and referee for AYSO soccer region 837, Green Valley and Sahuarita.

Dr. Timothy Cross

Born and raised in Menlo Park, CA, near San Francisco, Dr. Cross is a graduate of the University of the Pacific Dental School.  He completed his undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University. Dr. Dutton and the entire CopperMine Dental Team are excited to work with Dr. Cross and look forward to having all of you meet him as well.

 You will find that Dr. Cross has a gentle touch and a wonderful demeanor as he continues to serve our patients with the same care and attention that you all have come to appreciate at CopperMine Dental Studio.  Having Dr. Cross on board will enable Dr. Dutton to put forth more of his time and expertise in the area of orthodontics, which will surely help to make many of you “smile”!

 With a love for flying, Dr. Cross has been a member of the Sundance Flying Club for the past 15 years and has been noted as the Overall Regional Top Pilot in 2000.  He has also been a proud participant in Truck of Love Summer Day Camp since 1997 and has been an active member of the Children’s Hunger Alliance “Food Folks” Healthy Eating Program.  Aside from flying, Dr. Cross also enjoys traveling, skiing, hiking, and playing with his dog, Luna.
